At night in Metropolis, a young boy prays to Superman to find his lost dog. However, Superman is busy stopping some bank robbers. One of them runs in front of an ambulance, causing it to crash. Fortunately, Superman carries it and a woman in labor to the hospital. There, he is notified of a transplant operation waiting for a donor heart that was delayed at Chicago airport, where a flight has been hijacked by political extremists. Superman stops them, then delivers the heart and flies off.

Elsewhere, a group of teenagers is trapped in an abandoned mineshaft that is starting to flood. Again, Superman rescues the kids and quickly settles a gang fight, then arrives at the site of a suicide. He finds out the victim murdered someone and framed his brother, who has been scheduled to be executed in one minute. Superman rushes to Stryker's Island just in time to save the innocent man.

In Earth's orbit, a space station is caught in a meteor storm and is running out of air. Just then, Superman repairs the damage to the ship and heroically destroys a giant meteor with one punch.

In the morning, Superman's exploits are all over the news. Back in the young boy's home, he wakes up to see his dog and rejoices, telling his parents that Superman tracked down a missing dog while saving practically the whole world because he is Superman.
