In 1941, Nyssa and the Jewish community she lived in were abducted from their synagogue in Kyiv by Nazis. Ra's al Ghul came to the concentration camp and spoke to Nyssa through the fence, but he refused to save her from his allies, though she begs and she tells him that her children—his grandchildren—were raped and murdered. He tells her it is for the greater good as she is dragged away by guards.

In his hallucination, Bruce and Martha walk through Gotham City. She takes him to a park where Thomas is waiting for them, though Martha didn't think Thomas wanted to speak to Bruce. Thomas demands to know what Bruce has to say for himself.
